How has everyone's week been? It's almost Friday!! Yay! So on Monday I have a track try out, so today I thought that I would do a how to get the best chance at making the team. I hope that this helps and for anyone that is going to be trying out for a sport of school activity or job, good luck! :)
- Be confident- coaches are always looking for those players that keep their heads high and try their best. Even if you aren't the best player, don't quit. You have a very good chance of making the team, you just need to believe you can do it
- Talk to the coach- ask if there is anything that he thinks you should work on, ask how you're doing, never say you can't do it because then he/she may think that you don;t want to try
- Try your best- this one is pretty obvious but still, let you coach and teammates know that you are here to win. Don't give up and do the best you can. You aren't going to be perfect, no one is, we all have our weaknesses but we all also have our strength
- Practice before- start to get ready for the season before it starts. Don't sit around and wait until the tryout and then not be ready to play. If you are trying out for a running sport like me, run for 20 minutes and do a small strength workout, of if it's something like softball/baseball then practice sprinting short distance and practice hitting and catching.
- Have a friend practice with you- don't always go practice alone, if you have someone distract you by talking when you are running or doing something like sit-ups/push-ups it sometimes will help take the "pain" away. But everyone is different, you may like practicing alone of with a few friends, this is all up to you
- Stay hydrated and eat healthy- make sure to drink a lot of water. Spring is coming up and it's going to be getting warmer. You don't want to get dehydrated. Even if you aren't thirsty take a drink every now and then. Also eat the right foods. Don't fill yourself with sugary foods or fried foods before a practice to game. Eat fruits, vegetables, granola bars, and meats.
- Stretch- always stretch! You don't want to get hurt before the season or even during the season. Drink lots of milk to keep your bones strong!
Good Luck!
